Predicting the total amount of attorney fees and litigation expenses you will incur at the beginning of your case is extremely difficult to do as there are so many aspects of a case that are outside of our firm’s control.

For example, in a divorce or legitimation action where custody is highly contested (each parent wants primary physical custody), one spouse may ask the judge to appoint a Guardian ad Litem (GAL) to represent your children’s interests. Oftentimes, judge will appoint a GAL on their own. In addition to their own attorney’s fees, the parties must also pay the GAL’s attorneys fees and litigation expenses which can range from $3,500 up to $10,000+.
